How Do I Find A Live Spiritual Awakening Teacher?

Books build a foundation, but a Realized Guide provides the energetic catalyst for rapid deconstruction. The guide's function isn't more words, but a Direct Presence that dismantles the internal committee—the judge, victim, and analyst—that enslaves you in habits.

How Do I Find A Live Spiritual Awakening Teacher?

In This Video:

Rohan explains that while decades of study provide a foundation, a live Realized Guide is the catalyst for rapid deconstruction. The guide's primary function is not to provide more concepts, but to hold an energetic space that interrupts the internal committee—the judge, victim, and analyst—that sustains the illusion of a separate self. This is about dismantling the habits and mental "sheaths" that enslave you, a process accelerated by Direct Presence, not more words.

  • In what specific situations does my internal committee (the Judge, Victim, Analyst) become loudest? Can I name the primary roles it plays?
  • Rohan describes moving between "energetic homes" or "sheaths." Which conceptual frameworks have I adopted and later discarded, believing each was "it"?
  • Where does the debate over trivial choices, like coffee or tea, reveal the illusion of multiple beings arguing internally?
  • How am I waiting for a teacher to provide an instant awakening, rather than mustering the courage to dismantle my own habits right now?
  • What is the difference between the 'words' a teacher uses and the 'energetic space' they hold? When have I prioritized collecting concepts over abiding in Direct Presence?

TRANSCRIPT

[00:00:07] And those for decades I read books and went through all the books and literatures and various different things. [00:00:22] Started to learn little tricks in life to simplify my life and oh, that's where I'm making a mistake. Oh, that's what that is. So I could probably stop doing that and slowly but surely stop doing it. It'd take me quite a while. Habits are very hard to change. [00:00:38] And life started to slowly get better and better. I was in relationships that forced me to be quieter and not say much and surrender. [00:00:51] Slowly but surely it started to make sense. Oh, if I let go, things get better. [00:01:03] Things get easier. [00:01:07] Then I studied and studied and studied and eventually that's when the time was right, I found a teacher, a live teacher. I had um many teachers of course over the years through books and whatever else and then [00:01:29] then I found a live physical teacher also. [00:01:39] And that's when the game really changed. That's when it all came together extremely rapidly. [00:01:52] My intent went through the roof as I could as I finally saw how you can live. I finally met somebody that all these thoughts that I didn't share with anybody and kept quiet to myself, he would say out loud and they were accurate for a lot of them. It was some mistakes in there but I was no longer abnormal and weird. I was suddenly in a room with somebody that actually I was agreeing with. [00:02:19] And it was like a huge weight was taken off my shoulders. There was no longer half crazy. [00:02:27] So I didn't have anyone around me really that was into this at any level. [00:02:44] Once languages were sorted out, he was from non-dual traditions. A little bit in shamanic, I was from [00:02:55] an East American tradition, so that once I worked the language out, it was the same thing. [00:03:01] The most important thing of course was the energy, the uh the space that was there. That's the most important thing. What was the second. [00:03:15] In fact ideally there be no words and we wouldn't have many problems at all but we'd be living a lot more primitively. So [00:03:25] but we've got lost in the words, you see. We've got lost in language, we've got lost in concepts, we've got lost in [00:03:32] views. [00:03:37] Sheaths. And we pick a sheath and we stick to it for a while until it gets boring and then we move to another sheath, then we move to another. [00:03:45] It's like we move from energetic home to energetic home thinking this is it, this is it, this is it. There's a better one there, I'll move there now. [00:03:57] And none of them are legitimate. They're all just [00:04:05] ignorance. So this is a very difficult thing to do to go against your habits because it's your habits are a large part of what's enslaved you as a compressed being, a compressed imaginary being that has no center and does not exist. [00:04:25] And then on top of that instead of just being in the world, it says I need to go get a drink now instead of you just going and getting a drink and then it might go, shall I have a coffee or a tea? And then it'll debate a coffee or a tea and all the health benefits of coffee over tea and what time of day it is and on it goes and there'll be an internal argument as if there's two beings there and there was not even one to begin with. [00:04:54] And this is normal. It's normal until you put a loudspeaker broadcasting everybody's thoughts, then it's very abnormal, isn't it? The only difference is it's not being heard by others. [00:05:09] Between insane and normal. It's a very fine line but because everybody else is doing it. [00:05:21] And we saw our parents doing it when we're young and we started playing with their toys and talking one soldier to the other or one doll to the other. [00:05:33] Having little dialogues between the the toys and or the toys talking to itself then at some point we started internalizing such things. [00:05:44] And we start to create we created an internal dialogue which most often turns into a inner critic of not being good enough or needing more. Then becomes an analysis an analysis [00:05:59] of the world, a judge, then a victim, and it can become a rebel, it can become a prostitute, selling out all the time or become a white knight savior with some information that's gathered and some beliefs that's collected and go save everybody else from their stillness or their beliefs. [00:06:27] This isn't life, it's not living. So I'm I'm hinting here to muster all your courage, all your strength, start breaking your habits, start turning around and looking at them all and best to get them all. [00:06:42] It's extremely rare, extremely extremely rare for somebody to come in front of a teacher and just wake up but so many people are waiting for that. The work has to be done and any honest teacher will say it.

GLOSSARY

  • Realized Guide
Not a 'guru,' but an individual who has completed the path and holds an energetic space that accelerates the deconstruction of ego-structures in a student.
  • The Committee
The collection of internalized voices (Judge, Victim, Critic, Savior) that create a constant internal dialogue, maintaining the illusion of a separate, thinking self.
  • Sheaths
Conceptual frameworks, spiritual traditions, or identities that are temporarily adopted ('worn') in the search for truth. All are ultimately forms of ignorance to be discarded.
  • Energetic Home
A temporary state of identification with a particular belief system or 'sheath,' which provides a false sense of security before being replaced by another.
  • Direct Presence
The state of being that is prior to words and concepts. It is the primary 'transmission' from a Realized Guide, more important than any verbal teaching.
  • Compressed Imaginary Being
The false sense of self, constructed and maintained by ingrained habits and internal dialogue, which has no actual center or existence.
  • Inner Engineering
The methodical process of observing, identifying, and dismantling the conditioned patterns and habits that create suffering.
  • Stalking the Self
The Toltec practice of turning awareness around to meticulously observe the operations of the internal committee and its habits.
  • The Mitoté (The Fog)
The constant noise of the internal dialogue, the 'thousand voices in the head' that obscure clarity and Direct Seeing.
  • Direct Realization
The end of seeking; the direct, non-conceptual recognition of one's true nature, often catalyzed by a Realized Guide.

“There’s nothing to add. What you are is prior to beliefs, thoughts and labels.
Here we explore and unveil the ultimate mystery of non-dual being.
